Content: The third period of Unit 4 “Colors”
Analysis of the students:
Students have learnt English for only about two months. They can greet each other and introduce themselves with simple sentences in English. For colors, they have learnt the words red, yellow, blue, green and brown , and the sentences What color? It’s blue. They are all the contents of the students’ book. And as extension, children have learnt black, white, pink, purple, orange, and the sentences like It’s a yellow banana or The banana is yellow. This topic is related to the daily life. So it’s easy to arouse their interests and it involves language that students love to use in daily life.
Teaching aims:
Knowledge objectives:
1. Words: Use ten color words fluently.
2. Sentences: What’s your favorite color?
My favorite color is pink.
Red and white is pink.
Ability objectives:
1. To develop the children’s ability of communication.
2. To improve the children’s listening ability.
3. To improve the children’s reading ability: can understand the reading materials
4. To improve the children’s speaking ability: can use the target language to ask and answer
one’s favorite color and express how to mix a
new color.
Moral objective:
Encourage the children to communicate in English. Arouse their interests in learning English.

The focus will be on the new sentences structures:
What’s your favorite color?
My favorite color is pink.
Red and white is pink.

1. Enable children to read, speak, listen and think in English.
2. The pronunciation of favorite

Teaching Procedures:
1. Teaching organization: ① Say hello to each other.
② Children’s self-introductions
2. Review: ① Review the following words with the cards: red, yellow, blue, green, brown,
black, white, pink, orange, purple
② Talk about the picture.
3. Presentation and drill: ① The banana is yellow. I like yellow. My favorite color is yellow.
② Drill the sentence structure in class and groups, lead in the questions: What’s your favorite color?
③ Play the game Music chair to practise the structure individually.
4. Reading: ① T: This rabbit is my friend. And today we have two new friends. This is Mimi. And this is Cosmi. Let’s say hello to them.
② T: What are they doing? They are painting. What are they talking? What are their favorite colors? Look and listen carefully. Then help them to put some on the plate.
③ Wear the mask of Mimi, ask one child to be Cosmi, act out a dialogue as the following: ---Hello, Mimi.
---Hello, Cosmi.
---What’s your favorite color?
---My favorite color is pink. What’s your favorite color?
---My favorite color is white. Goodbye.
---Bye-bye.
④ Pair practice
⑤ Listen again and correct the children’s answers.
⑥ T: Cosmi’s favorite color is pink. But he only has white and red. How to get pink? ( Do an experiment ) White and red is pink.
⑦ Drill the sentence structure. Give more examples to children. Practise in pairs. Then report them in class.
Homework:
1. To investigate father’s and mother’s favorite colors.
2. Try to find how to make orange, purple, green, and pink.
